I am licensed in Washington and Kentucky with 8 years of professional work experience. I believe if you change you brain, you can change your life. Mental health disorders effect the way our brain produces different types of chemicals and we often have to retrain the pathways our brain takes in order to change our behaviors and situations. I also believe in letting people make their own choices, because you are the expert on your life! I take a motivational interviewing approach. You tell me what you want to do or where you want to go and I will help you figure out the different routes and options to achieve your goals by using proven scientific methods. My methods usually involve cognitive behavioral therapy with a large variety of interventions depending on your preferences and personality. I especially like using a psychoeducation approach with people who are struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, bipolar, or coping with addictions because you deserve to know why you feel the way you do and how you can change it. I have a wide range of experience working with varying age groups, cultural backgrounds, and religious beliefs. I have a license in Mental Health Counseling and Supervision. I have been a college Professor for 6 years, teaching counseling classes and working with college students. I have experience working with children and youth at a crisis stabilization unit, public schools, and private schools. I spent several years working with substance abuse and addictions. I really enjoy investing in people by inspiring them with hope and equipping them with the tools to change. You have already begun changing your life from the moment you signed up. I would love to be on your team as you continue your journey.

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.

I love Ruth so much! She has helped me so much in my time with her and I look forward to our sessions every week!
She is very good at checking in, as I tend to check out.
She is giving me great goals and tips to work on
I feel like I came into my first therapy session having no clue what to do. For years and years I’d always been told I should go to therapy. I considered it many times, and yet it wasn’t until my first session with Ruth Darland at age 48 that I found myself having the nerve to actually do it. I started off all wrong. Poor Ruth didn’t know how to read me. After our first session I was pretty sure I wasn’t meant for therapy and ready to give up. If I wasn’t for a friend who kept encouraging me to hang in there, and the fact I believed God wanted me to give it a few more tries I know I would have quit. There was also one other important factor, despite my failure to connect, I knew I loved Ruth. My first impression was that she’d make a great best friend. There is so many reasons I’m drawn to her as a person and so many things I could say that I like about her. …but honestly I feel like the biggest compliment that I can give her is that she hung in there with me. I’d ramble on and on and feel pretty certain none of it made sense, yet she’d listen contentedly. Then she’d surprise the heck out of me by remembering everything I had told her. It honestly astounded me that she had such a good memory. I’ve had two really big ah-ha moments with Ruth that I don’t think I ever would have been able to see if it weren’t for her gift of insight. She has the ability to say no more than a few sentences and all of a sudden she’s given my long cluttered thoughts a clear and simple definition. A hundred times over I would recommend Ruth Darland as a therapist.
It has been a wonderful experience and I’m thankful that God made a way for my path to cross with Ruth. She has helped me understand my thoughts and has helped guide me on how to approach my grief and anxiety. She is a great listener and provides wonderful feedback.
Ruth Darland is a great listener and gives awesome feedback and advice.
Ruth is amazing! I look forward to our sessions and every week and love talking to her.
Ruth is fantastic. She listens and provides great insight on any situations I have.
Very kind and so helpful. Listens not just respond but actually allow you speak
Ruth has been a wonderful listener with great feedback in the form of tools to go through and work on. Sometimes I feel the generic context of the tools isn’t customized to my specific situation but I get that it’s hard to be ultra personal over messaging and with all the Clint’s I am just one of many she has to respond to. I am greatful for her responses and the times she shares her own personal understanding by sharing her experiences. That is very meaningful and intimate.
Ruth is incredibly compassionate and helpful. She is a great listener and works through issues with an open mind and in an empathetic way. She sends check-ins and helpful exercises between sessions. I would highly recommend working with Ruth.
Ruth is a caring and attentive conversation partner who helps me reflect on my challenges and opportunities for growth in a kind way.
Ruth is extraordinarily warm and kind hearted. She is always so responsive, caring, and nonjudgmental. She does an excellent job of helping you sift through the layers of complex and traumatic issues. I cannot say enough good things about our sessions and the support she gives.
Ruth is great! I’m very thankful to have her as a therapist and love how easy it is to open up to her and talk to her about anything.
Ruth Darland has consistently looked out for me and my well being even when I turned my back from seeking this necessary help. I am grateful that she is still reaching out to me and I am ready to come back for more of her excellent advice and support!
Ruthi is very approachable, creating a great atmosphere to share and be heard. She is concise and to the point, while supporting learning and growth.

Ruth is wonderful. She is kind and understanding and a good listener! She provides information after our sessions regarding what we talked about and always checks in through out the week and asks how I am doing.
Ruth is a very caring and professional person. She listens to me and offers advice but is never pushy. We discuss things and she has been a huge help to me finding my strength again.

Ruth is AMAZING!!! She is the only therapist I’ve ever stuck with. I truly believe she try’s to understand me and cares . I look forward to our meetings on good and bad weeks . She’s been a blessing for me.
Well informed approached, kind and compassionate!
Ruth is a great listener and allows me to just talk until she feels it is the right time to intercept and bring an understanding and kind response as well as maybe a different way to approach whatever specific situation is happening in that moment. I love that she is not hesitant about asking me if I would like a little prayer. That is one of the reasons why I chose Ruth. I have only had two sessions with Ruth but so far it has been very positive.
I am so happy with my therapy with Ruth Darland. She listens to what I am saying and helps me see how to reframe my thoughts or feelings. She is warm and caring and I feel so comfortable talking with her.
I know she is my therapist, but Ruth did a good job making me feel as if I has a friend when I desperately needed one.
Wonderful listener and validater!
She’s amazing. Checks in with you, provides timely responses, is punctual for sessions.
Ruth is very attentive and understanding and positive. She listens and dives into whatever topic needs to be addressed while still being supportive and compassionate.
Ruth is a great therapist and a great listener, most therapists I have worked with have spent more time talking than I do which I have never felt was helpful. Ruth listens before offering advice or skills to use for my issues.
I have only met with her once, so far, but was very impressed with her caring demeanor and the understanding wayI was greeted.
When I first started with Better help, I was concerned because Ruth seemed so young. On the contrary, she has actually read my messages in between appointments and responded to them, as well as check in on me. Thank you Ruth, I am impressed
Very kind and helpful. Always approaches with a positive attitude.

Honestly, Ruth had changed my life for the better!! What an incredible women and therapist. I can not speak highly enough in regards to her ability as a therapist and her kindness as a person. Very glad I found you on my journey Ruth
I was so pleased to work with Ruth , she is very passionate and supportive.
Ruth is very warm and welcoming she has made me feel like I can talk to her about anything and she has a lot to offer I appreciate how she has asked me what therapy I was looking for and has so much knowledge I am learning so much about myself and feel like I'm making progress!
Ruth has such a caring, comforting presence. I'm amazed she is able to convey that so well over video calls, but she does every time. She is flexible and attentive in the kinds of therapy she provides, and open to input in sessions, asking me if I want to be heard, or if instead I'm looking for input, etc. Ruth regularly helps me reach building-block conclusions on concerns big and small, which go on to help me in my everyday life. I appreciate working with Ruth and 100% would recommend!
I enjoy our meetings. I feel we connected right off the bat. She is genuine. She is easy to talk to. I am thankful we were paired!
Ruth is engaging and responsive reaching out with affirmations, new ideas and concepts that can be applied to the everyday situations where my issues can arise.
