Emma was very quick to understand and reflect back my observations, and in so doing, helped me gain greater clarity over my situation. She was also very kind and caring and made me feel safe. I was concerned about talking to someone about my thoughts, but now see how helpful it is.

Hi, I'm Emma Poxon and I am a qualified person-centred experiential therapist.
I have BSc (Hons) Psychology and MA Person-Centred Experiential Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice. My pronouns are she/they.
The person-centred approach is about empowering individuals as the experts of their own experience. My role is to show you unconditional positive regard, empathy and to be non-directive, allowing you to discuss all you wish to without deciding what is or isn't important and taking an expert role. This can take some getting used to given the difference to some other therapy approaches, but centring around your experience and allowing you to be fully in control of how our sessions run is really important in creating empowerment and trust in yourself.
My experience is providing long-term therapy (20 or more sessions) but therapy can be as long-term or short-term as you need. I have experience working with a range of clients from those looking to advance their careers and working purely in self-improvement, to those with more complex needs who often had not had positive experiences with therapeutic services in the past and one or more formal diagnoses e.g. (ASD, Schizophrenia, ADHD, Anxiety, OCD, Depression, Addiction, Trauma etc). Also, as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community I have worked with LGBTQIA+ clients and have insight into the unique experiences and challenges that can be experienced.
We will work together and regularly check in on whether the therapy is providing what you need and how we can work together to meet your needs whether that is long-term goals or session-by-session needs. Person-centred therapy doesn't have to be without structure, but equally, it can be completely without structure.
Please ensure that you message me before scheduling any live sessions.
Taking the steps to find a therapist that is compatible with you is really important, and I am really excited for those of you starting your journey with therapy. I wish you the best of luck and hope to speak with you soon!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.
Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
