More about Mark

  • 14 years' experience

  • BACP

I am a qualified UK‑based psychotherapist with over 14 years of direct counselling experience and more than 18 years working with complex trauma. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and also practice as a Social Worker in adult mental health, registered with Social Work England.

My experience spans work with adults, young people, and children from age seven, across settings including financial services, residential childcare, family outreach, safeguarding, domestic abuse, substance misuse, and community mental health. I collaborate closely with GPs, hospitals, adult and child mental health teams, schools, and care providers.

I support clients with a wide range of issues, including addiction, substance misuse, family conflict, domestic violence, sexuality, depression, hopelessness, suicidal thoughts, neurodivergence, complex trauma, abuse, extra‑familial harm, relationship difficulties, grief, loss, and challenging life transitions.

Meaningful moments in my practice include helping a young woman rebuild trust after domestic violence, supporting a father to connect with his adopted son, and providing stabilizing therapeutic support to a woman in profound crisis.

I offer short‑ and long‑term counselling, usually in the evenings, with flexibility based on need. I work through face‑to‑face sessions, walking therapy, video, telephone, and instant messaging to suit individual preferences.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.

Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.

With Mark I got to understand certain currently behaviour patterns, how they connect to past traumatic experiences... Learned how to release trapped emotions... I feel that mark listened and able to create a space that I feel safe in to explore and express my traumatic experiences... Without any judgement.
