More about Fraser

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist (HCPC Registered) working in NHS Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services. I currently work with adults experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems, including psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and complex trauma.

I graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2015 with a first-class honours degree in Psychology. Throughout my degree, I worked as a voluntary mental health support worker for adults with severe and enduring mental health challenges. After graduating, I moved into full-time paid employment in this role. In 2017, I completed the Psychological Therapy in Primary Care MSc (Distinction), an accredited professional training course jointly offered by the University of Stirling and the University of Dundee. This course, designed by NHS professionals and clinical academics, helped me develop the clinical and professional skills required to work as a Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology within the NHS.

Following my MSc, I worked as a CAAP, providing psychological therapies in NHS adult Psychological Services for two years before pursuing my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Glasgow in 2019. Since completing my doctorate, I have been serving as the sole Clinical Psychologist responsible for two NHS adult inpatient mental health wards. Alongside individual therapy and psychological assessments, I collaborate closely with other mental health professionals, offering consultation, supervision, and training.

In our work together, I prioritise personalisation. Collaboratively, we will develop a shared understanding of your difficulties. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches to help you achieve your therapeutic goals.

While I have extensive experience and training in psychology, it's important to acknowledge a fundamental truth: no one can be an expert in everything, and good therapy is about much more than experience and knowledge. Therapy thrives when there is a strong working relationship and rapport between therapist and client.

Despite our best efforts, sometimes people have communication styles or ways of working don't perfectly align. And that's absolutely fine. The therapeutic journey is deeply personal, and finding the right fit for you is so important. I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive space where we can collaboratively explore your needs. If, during our discussions, it doesn't feel like I am the best person to help, I will openly and empathically communicate this to you. Likewise, it is equally essential for you to feel that I am the right therapist for you. If at any point you feel that I may not be the best fit, it's completely okay to express that, and this is something I will check in on with you. Your comfort and confidence in our therapeutic relationship are of utmost importance, and your well-being is my priority, and I will guide you towards alternative options, including other services or therapists who may be better suited to meet your requirements. I understand that private therapy entails a significant financial investment, and I deeply respect the commitment and sacrifices you make to prioritize your well-being. I will always make sure that your time and resources are valued.

Take care.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
