I am licensed in North Carolina with 10 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, & coping with grief and loss. I also provide Christian-based therapy. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
Further background:
After graduating from Lee University in May 2007, I worked at Lighthouse Counseling and Life Skills Center in Chattanooga, TN. I gained skills in helping to complete therapeutic intakes, helping to oversee Life Skills classes, and facilitation of co-parenting courses. I moved to CO in and began working at Beacon Youth and Family Center, working with at-risk adolescents who resided at the facility. I then became a Program Counselor at the Council on Substance Abuse and Mental Health (Comitis Program), a residential facility for at-risk adolescents and for temporarily homeless families. During my time there, I assisted with suicide risk assessments and in-patient hospitalizations, when necessitated, intake screenings, co-therapy groups for adolescents and for adults, individual counseling sessions for adolescents and adults, family meetings, and aided in crisis management and de-escalation.
During my graduate program at Colorado Christian University, I completed my supervised clinical hours at Michael Dawson Counseling and The Philippi Center in Aurora, CO. I conducted individual (adolescents and adults), couples, and group (children, adolescents and adults) therapy sessions in a faith-based setting. I also received extensive training in counseling clients (children – adults) in various stages of grief and in trauma resolution. I received training in Equine Assisted Therapy (EAP) during this time as well. I also completed clinical internship hours at Christ Haven Lodge – Home of Chuckie’s Place, where I helped to provide clinical support at retreats for families with children with special needs and helped to provide clinical support at retreats for military families affected by deployment and PTSD. I was then employed by the Child and Family Assistance Center at Ft. Carson Army Base in CO. While employed there, I aided in completing ER suicide and homicide risk assessments (for children – adults), crisis management and de-escalation, and facilitation of in-patient hospitalizations, when necessary. I conducted initial therapy interviews to establish treatment. Additionally, I facilitated individual and/or family crisis resolution sessions with children and adolescents. I co-facilitated adolescent, family, and couples therapeutic and educational groups. All of the clients I saw during my time working at Ft. Carson were military families facing issues related to deployment and military life and adjustment, and many were affected by PTSD.
I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples. I enjoy helping adolescents and adults resolve crisis, develop better coping skills to continue in their healing, and allowing space for clients to process areas that may be difficult to discuss with family or friends. I also enjoy helping couples to learn to communicate better, rebuild intimacy, and have a healthy marriage. It is my honor to be able to walk with people as they process grief/loss and/or trauma, and hopefully see resolution. It is my desire that each client feels safe and respected while in my treatment. I believe that the client must be invested in therapy for it to be truly beneficial and therefore believe that this a joint effort between the client and myself. I want to help each client develop and reach their own individual counseling goals, as there is not one approach or theory that works for every client. I come from a faith-based, Christian background, but will strive to honor my client’s personal spiritual values. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Equine Assisted Therapy (EAP), grief/loss therapy, trauma therapy, and have received training in The Gottman Method for couples therapy.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
