I am Jaqui. I am a registered Australian Social Worker (with the Australian Association of Social Workers) in Southwest Victoria, Australia.

My first degree at university was a Bachelor of Education (Primary) and I often draw on my knowledge from this as a social worker by giving people psycho- education about a range of wellbeing issues. Following this degree, I completed my Master of Social Work (Qualifying) in 2018 at Federation University.

I worked in mental health before, during and after my masters (around 9 years’ experience). From this I have experience I have helped people with anxiety, depression, bipolar, psychosis, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and borderline personality disorder along a huge range from mild symptoms to crisis.

The last two years I have worked as counsellor/coordinator at an employment agency. I have experience with homelessness, addictions and accessing the legal system.

I feel really privileged to work as a social worker and I love helping people. My favourite social work practices are mostly around strength-based approach, acceptance and commitment therapy and I will often put motivational interviewing techniques into my practice. My counselling style is warm, but also straightforward and honest. I consider myself to be a kind person and I truly desire to help those who are hurting.

I want these sessions to work for us. I am always happy to get feedback at the end of the session and I am constantly aiming to be the best social worker I can be!

Online counseling, sometimes called teletherapy, refers to talk therapy delivered remotely through digital platforms, such as video calls, phone calls, or chat. It can be a great option for people who face barriers to traditional face-to-face therapy, such as those living in remote areas, individuals with mobility issues, or people with busy schedules that make it difficult to attend in-person sessions.

Teletherapy also offers greater convenience and flexibility, allowing clients to access care from the comfort of their homes. Research shows that the treatment outcomes with online counseling are often just as effective as with traditional therapy, providing a viable alternative for individuals seeking mental health support.
