Hi my name is Jo and I have been a qualified accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor since 2015; and I am based and trained in the UK.
Everyone is unique, and it is important that you the potential client feel able to connect with, and can trust the counsellor with whom you are looking to share your personal information and experiences with. To help you decide if I am that person here is some information about myself.
I am trained in an Integrated Approach to Counselling and Psychotherapy; which means I am able to draw upon a number of different theories, approaches and techniques when working therapeutically with a client. For example Humanistic, Person Centred, , Transactional Analysis, CBT, Solution Focussed and Psychodynamic.
I have experience of working with adults, children and young people, with individuals, couples and with groups.
One of my areas of expertise is Bereavement and Loss.
Having worked in palliative care for 7 years I have supported patients diagnosed with a terminal illness; as well as supporting their family members, in both the pre and post bereavement stages of grief and loss.
I have supported those who have suffered the death of a baby, child or young person through either a life limiting condition, or through a sudden and/or traumatic incident, as well as adults who have lost a significant other for example; a parent, partner, relative or friend.
Other presenting issues I have worked with in my counselling career include Stress, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Self Esteem, Trauma, Attachment, Relationship and Family Issues, Addiction and Abuse.
My counselling approach, is always tailored to the needs of the individual/s I am working with, as I know from experience, one counselling style does not suit everyone.
I would describe myself as empathic, approachable, trustworthy, a good listener, and I genuinely care about my work and those that I am fortunate to work with.
Thank you for taking the time to read my Bio.

Online counseling, also known as teletherapy, is a method of delivering mental health services through digital means such as video conferencing, phone calls, or messaging platforms. It can be an ideal option for individuals who have difficulty accessing traditional therapy due to geographical distance, time constraints, or personal preferences like privacy and comfort. Many people find it easier to open up from the familiarity of their own space.
Teletherapy has been found to be highly effective, with studies showing that it can produce similar outcomes to in-person therapy, particularly for issues like anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The flexibility and accessibility it offers make it a valuable alternative to conventional therapy settings.
