More about Robert

  • 16 years' experience
  • Male
  • AASW

I am licensed as an accredited social worker in Australia with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) with 15 years of professional work experience.

I have experience in helping clients with mental health issues, LGBTQ+ related issues, relationship issues, coping with grief, coping with loss, & intimacy related issues. I also have experience working with parenting issues, workplace issues, generalized stress and anxiety, and major life transitions.

I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I utilize person centred approaches to therapy that are combined in an integrated fashion with acceptance and commitment therapy, emotion focussed therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy.

I hold undergraduate qualifications in psychology, a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Social Work with expertise in the assessment and treatment of complex childhood trauma.

Unrelated to my therapeutic training and expertise are a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, a Master of Arts in International Relations, a Master of Laws in International Law, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA). I am particularly well acquainted with the stress and anxiety that accompanies being in executive and leadership roles after having spent ten years at CEO level in the non-profit sector in Australia.

It is convenient for those who may have trouble getting to or would prefer not to have in-person therapy appointments. Starting at $65 per week, online counseling is generally more affordable than in-person counseling. A study by researchers at University of California, Berkeley found that online counseling can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy while being more convenient, affordable, and accessible.
